It literally feels like I started the 2015-2016 thread only yesterday...

Anyway, my club is kicking the year off, and so I wanted to start up the annual tournaments thread again...like I have for how many years? :) I've heard disconcerting rumors that the Veteran's Day Challenge and Coyote Kickoff might both not happen this year, although the website has both of them up, which is heartening.

Got any plans yet, Stoans/NCFCA'ers? What tournaments are you looking forward to attending this year? You know what these threads are about by now :P

If we're talking NCFCA, the North Carolina Open is always fantastic. I'm also looking forward to attending the Boston Open this year!

I think he's being overly nit-picky about location? The MA open at Gordon College is still happening. It's technically in Wenham, which is a little outside Boston.

Joshua, bro, to all of us who don't live in the New England area, anything near Boston is just going to be referred to as Boston. Like, for me, I pretty much have to tell everyone from outside the PNW that I live in Seattle, even though it's about an hour and a half away, because nobody has heard of Tumwater, WA.

I'll definitely be going to the Mass Open, provided there aren't any sudden conflicts... wait what am I saying... NCFCA tournaments ARE the conflicts to consider ;). Hopefully I'll make it to the other two, but if I had to pick one of them, it would be the North Carolina one, if only because of the distance. Though Ben, I've never been to Washington State before.

Btw, Welcome to the forum Mac.

NC was awesome, we had nearly 100 there in LD last year. Super-competitive, in fact, I would argue a few of the rounds were more competive than Nats, but everyone there is great!

You should all come to the WA Open. Cuz Spokane is awesome. And the PNW is the most beautiful part of the US. No offense everybody else in the country. Just facts.

Needless to say, I'll be at the WA Open. I'd like to go to another Open but I doubt I'll be able to. Because money. Stupid money. Stuff should be free.

So I'll pretty much just be chillin' over here in the West, going to all the qualifiers.

I'll be curious to see if the LD registration for NC would be as large as last season. I have a feeling we will be seeing a lot of formerly LD people switch over to TP this year because of the excellent resolution they have (myself NOT included). So there will probably be less Lders, but certainly still the largest Open.

And then there are those, such as myself, who were TPers and are now doing LD because they didn't like the resolution. :D

Gorgeous. Such power. .-.

As for tournaments, I'm pretty happy that we're having an open in Spokane. :)
Driving to all the tournaments is going to be expensive though. Might have to sell my kidney.

[Edit: Rewording]

I'm sure it will be. In Region IX we have a club (not mine) that has 30 FIRST-YEAR LD'ers. Not counting the 15+ returning that they have! There will be at least 40 from my region at the open, maybe more, and 40 is about what we had least year, so I would expect just as many from other regions.

I may be wrong though...
