So I'm an alumnus now, but that won't stop me from starting the annual tournaments thread! This is also the first time I can stickify this thread myself. Hooray for progress!

Stoa is, yet again, already percolating along with rolling out tournament plans. I'm planning on, Lord willing, going to judge and hang out at the Veritas Veteran's Day Challenge, since my school is off for that day :) We'll see what other SoCal tournaments I can hopefully go to, and while it's a long shot, I will try to attend NITOC in Missouri this year, depending on finals and cost.

NCFCA peeps, do you guys have any solid round robins and/or tournament plans yet?

There are some practice tournaments in early October in SC. I know of another in November and my local club might try to put one together in December which will be a first. I'm looking forward to keeping up with this thread :).

Also, Andrew Shelton and Marina bossed up a moot-court competition I hear.

As a sidenote. Doto/Folkert (Aff) and Porter/Rose (Neg) squared off in round 4. I shall gloat over Josh forever.

They went undefeated and won the tournament. This is their first time doing moot court ever. So they are pretty excited!

And one of them I think won a top attorney award which I think is the same thing as a speaker award.

Impressive work, Andrew and Marina.

Also, I may be going to judge and mingle at the Coyote Kickoff in Tuscon this weekend. Depends on if I can get my schoolwork done in time and if my ride is able to take me there. :)

Due to the HSD closure over the time most practice tournaments occur we missed a lot.

Doto/Folkert won a practice tournament, so go Hammy!

UADC tournament #2
1. Miele/Rose (4-0)
2. Sclater/Switzer (3-1)
3. Childs/Porter (3-1)
4. Arnold/Tryon (3-1)

Denver HSDC Tournament
1. Miele/Rose (3-0)
2. Childs/Porter (3-0) (Curiously loosing 2-3 ballots with shadow judges  )
3. Bailey/Fecthel (2-1) (Unranked but got first and second in speaks so de-facto)

All of this is from like 2 months ago so if I got something wrong my bad.

The Confirmation List Came out for the Wisconsin Open and there are somewhere between 62 and 64 teams attending. I only know about 8 of them :P.

Winter Warmup (Practice Tournament) Begins tomorrow. Monday is Speech and Tuesday is debate. Debate should be ranked, at least. :) Not sure. I'll keep you posted

Well nationals just got changed to Oklahoma for the NCFCA. So . . . interesting. I know a bunch of people from Region 2 were looking forward to it being close to them, but I can say for myself that I'm relieved at the change and it will allow a lot more teams from our region to probably make the trip.

Hm. Interesting. May I ask why they relocated? If Stoa did anything like that most of the league would probably be salty.

I didn't get the impression that they did it because they wanted to. I didn't read the whole notification, but it sounded like something came up with the facility or something.

The email said it was due to "unforeseen circumstances." Part of me is curious if people complaining about the distance contributed to those circumstances.

I would hope not. R4 is already lucky enough with a huge region, a nice open, and now nats. Travel isn't a reason to move nats in most cases. I am guessing it is more related to a contractual problem with the University.

Amedick/Barnes went 4-0 and won the practice tourney! :D Hungar/Stokke went 3-1 and got 2nd.

Amedick/Barnes 2.0 won the novice track. They were either 4-0 or 3-1.

:) VA Beach is in about a week.

I'm smiling but on the inside I'm dying. it's cool. ;D
