My mom was talking about how amazing Julia is for weeks after she judged Childs/Lane at Nats. :)

Joining in- Julia Rose is an incredible debater. She's gorgeous, brilliant, has a true ability to communicate and has the kind of natural likability that I would kill for. I have a seriously hard time imagining her not getting to high outrounds at nationals this year. :)

Thank you all so much for your far too generous commendations.

Just a not-so-quick note to say I no longer need a partner :), Soli Deo Gloria! I hope this praise report is an encouragement for all those looking for a partner this year: 3 out of the last 4 years I have started without a partner and without any prospects, each time God has effectively placed in my lap exactly who I needed and who they needed, in such a way that it showed God’s handy work and overwhelming love! This year my friend and I agreed to partner and were looking forward to a fun year together. But what must be noted is that neither one of us had peace about debating together. We rationalized(in our own wisdom) that there was no one else for us, this must be the person God want me to work with, so we shrugged off the trepidation and continued. But the Lord had other plans; He put on my heart Prov. 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all you heart, and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways submitted to Him and He shall direct your path." (what a magnificent promise :)). I repented for my lack of trust and my friend and I both agreed not to debate together, but that still left me without a partner, but not without a promise. God's word is true and God can not lie; what I did not know is that yet again He had prepared for me a more then remarkable partner in the new club we started this year, and if I had just been patient and trust Him fully, a lot of pain on my part could have been spared. So moral of the story: God cares and He has a plan, however this plan is not about us, but rather about His' glory and for our good. May the Lord bless you and your partner's year (who every they may be :)) with an overflowing testimony of His greatness and mercy! "Trust [Him] and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus, then to trust and obey."

Hey er'body. The Schvaneveldt portion of our team is not able to make it to the Huntersville practice tournament, and very likely, a few of the other qualifiers in Region 8. So I'm looking for a partner definitely for Huntersville, and possibly some other tourneys.

A bit about me: this is my third year of debate and my second of speech. I'm part of Upstate Area Debate Club. We haven't gone to Nats yet, but we did break at three qualifiers and Regionals last year (ended up getting 14th in the region. meh.). I got 5th speaks at Regionals. I seriously love debate and speech. I'm open to any possibilities; I'd prefer to partner with someone close to my experience level, but hey. At this point I'm desperate.

If you're interested in partnering with me for at least Huntersville, please PM me or email me at emilyelizabethrose1@gmail.com.

Thanks! <3

Emily is a super awesome debater! (and person) ;) I'd debate with her if my partner wasn't so diligent at making it to tournaments.

Hello everyone! My name is Will Rose, and I'm looking for a partner this year that can attend most if not all of the region 8 tourny's. Just a bit about me:

Any of you that know me know that I didnt do so hot [i]last[i] year. Anywho, I failed to get the concept of debate until regionals of last year. So, with that in mind, I technically have a year of experience, and also I am technically starting out new. But, already this year I have gone 2-2 at a practice tourny... losing to the winning team, and Andrew Shelton. (Great case btw) So, I plan to ALOT better this year... But I need someone else to share it ;) I did speech last year also. Thanks everyone!

Email me at warose3@gmail.com for any questions!

Greetings,

My name is Daniel Thetford, and due to certain events at the NC national open that some of you may be aware of, my partner will no longer be debating this year. Because of this development I need to find a new partner, one that would either be signed up for Columbia, or be able to do the Jonesboro Qualifier in R8. I realize my chances of finding a partner this late in the year are slim, but this is my senior year, so I thought I would just put this out there, for anyone who may have lost a partner, or for any other LDers who might want to do TP. I am not sure what the logistics would be like for partnering with someone out of region this late in the season, but I am willing to explore that option.

A little about me. I'm a senior R8 debater from Charlotte area NC. This will be my 5th year debating, (Started back during environment year) more specifically.
1. Competed at regionals and nationals the last 2 years.
2. I am very much a second speaker type.
3. I take debate reasonably serious. I do about 5-10 hours a week on research and speaking practice.

If you or someone you know would be interested, you can email me at Macgyverthetford@gmail.com or you can get me through any other medium(Facebook, Google+, or a PM)

Guys, I'm going to be honest here. Daniel is a VERY SOLID debater. He works extremely hard and is very kind. I've debated him several times and have been impressed. If you are a semi-advanced/advanced debater and need a partner, you are making a mistake by not debating with him.

Really, he DOES work super hard and you won't regret partnering with him. He's a fantastic guy and a better debater. :)

Seconding, I was impressed when we debated him and Logan at the open. Very solid speaker and a quick thinker.

Fourthing. Daniel can pull off six counterplans in one round. Not just anyone can do that. ;)

Well, I suppose I may as well fill this out, even though it's a bit early.

My name is Joshua Folkert and I'm looking for a debate partner. I'm currently 15 years old, though I'll be turning 16 in June. I live in Bradenton Florida, Region 8. I've been competing in NCFCA with Team Policy debate for four years. I also timed for two years before actually debating. My speaking style is more conversational and over the summer and fall I'm going to be working to drop the debatery talk that has crept up in my speaking this past year. I realize that the competition relies on whoever can convince the judge and I will be striving both in and outside of rounds to meet this instead of relying on debate terminology.

I dislike standards and goals. They seem to clog up the round and almost never weigh into the judge's decision. I feel that counter plans should not be run very often. I disagree with topical counter plans, but I'll occasionally run them anyway. :P PIC's are silly and ridiculous. My better speaking positions are the 2A and the 1N though I can switch over in a pinch in necessary.

I love the competition of NCFCA, but I'm not the sort of guy to get too hung up over not breaking. I will always work my best with the hopes of breaking and moving on to the next level, but If I don't break, then I'll work harder in the future, but I won't be crushed.

I also compete in various speech categories such as Open Interp, Impromptu and Extemp.

My partner and I also got 5th at Nationals in UN year. I believe that the reason that we didn't qualify to nationals this year is that A. Our speaking styles drifted too far apart, and B. that we learned a lot about debate theory and that showed in our speaking which confused the judge and we didn't bring it to their level. That is why I'll be striving to change that, to be an easy going and simple speaker.

If you're interested or want to ask me about anything, you can either PM me or send me an email at hammyducky@verizon.net. Thanks! :)

I am Caleb Ashley, a region nine debater located in Greensboro, NC. I'll be a senior next fall and will be 18 in September. I need a partner for my final season of team policy debate.

While I have really enjoyed debate, this year was only my second year. My first year, my equally novice partner and I didn’t know what we were doing and didn’t do well because of this. She went to a private school and I found another partner in my club at the beginning of this year. She was a 14 year old novice. We competed in 4 tournaments, 2 regional qualifiers, our regional tournament, and the NC Open. We broke at one regional qualifier and were 3-3 at the other qualifier and the open, and terrible at the regional invitation which was small and hyper-competitive.

As a partner, I took on all the research this year and wrote my partners 1NC’s so she could focus on improving her in round skills. This year I would like to find a partner who is willing to do some research and who will balance my skillset in round. l am not a fast or amazing speaker but have steadily improved over this season and will continue to do so. Similarly my argumentation skills have also improved significantly.

I'd love to find a partner with a similar level of skills that would round out my skill set. l like to compete, but at the end of the day I step back and realize it’s just for fun. l believe in being gracious inside the round and out; and I’d want that from my partner. I like to develop an affirmative case that I can get invested into, but I believe negative approaches should be governed by the specific case.

If you're interested PM me, or email me at sunmaster@triad.rr.com

Ditto. Caleb researches a TON and writes stellar briefs. Plus, he's really nice and just a great guy in general. :)

I guess I'm a free-agent right now.
My name is John Mark Porter (shocker right :)), and will be a 17 year old for the 2015 competetive debate season (I live in South Carolina), which will be my fourth year competing in the NCFCA. I traditionally was the 1N because I did most of the research and new what to run and 1A though I would enjoy being the 2N and 2A. :)
My qualifications:
-I'm not an excellent speaker, but I have improved in leaps and bounds. I'm a mega researcher. I wrote dozens of briefs last year and single-handedly wrote a 70 page back-up to our case (and that was before involvement with HSD so I should be ultra-prepped). I'm enthusiastically into debate, which may or may not be a good thing. My speaking style has been more conversational.
- UN year we broke at 2 out of 4 tournaments (a qualifier and Regionals), placing 4th at a qualifier and 9th at Regionals (a couple ballots shy of nats). We posted 5-1 records in both breaking tournaments.
- Election Year we broke at 4 of 5 tournaments with 4-2 records each time, making it to triple octas at the National Open, 7th at Regionals, and 13th and 4th at two other qualifiers.

My Philosophy in Rounds: I believe in topical counter-plans. I enjoy writing counter-plans but don't run them that often. I believe that every Negative team should run Disadvantages.

My partner and I performed well but I think we would have done much better if we had had a stronger case (Unions was great, just obscure and judges didn't understand it). Also, our Negs got at time confused because I did more research and new the backstory of the case while my partner would take a different take and the two could get clogged. Therefore, I want a partner who I could communicate with fairly often and get on the same page with.

I'm also looking for a partner who:
- Could participate in 3 or so Qualifiers, Regionals, and Nationals if we got that far, with maybe a National Open
- Does a fair amount of research, enough to be adequately prepared against cases and know what they want to run (ie. doesn't just make arguments based off a brief handed to them 20 minutes before the round)
- Is a fairly good speaker.
- Generally enjoys debate
-Is contactable, and could talk with about once a week over a hangout or something like that

You can PM me if you are interested or my e-mail is johnmarkporter@earthlink.net.

Extenuating circumstances prevent him from committing yet, and we decided that our styles probably aren't cohesive enough and we would be more successful with a change.
