Yeah, so maybe Alabama just has awful educational standards (stop the presses!), but all of my 100-level classes and most of my 200-level classes that didn't have a special honors designation had massive class sizes, mostly well into the triple digits. That was at a relatively-solid research university, at least compared to the rest of the southern U.S.

I suspect that the "small class section" bit is largely restricted to private schools and honors enclaves in public schools - if you expect to go to a state university, plan either to get into honors sections or just get the GE classes done at a JC.

Hey just to throw this out there, those of you interested in government or poli-sci might also want to consider applying to Regent. They have a fairly new undergrad program and I don't know a whole lot about it, but I do know a former NCFCA'er who is in the undergrad program and from what I've heard it's pretty good. Regent also has a lot of media type majors, so if you're interested in those sorts of things too it might be a good option for you.

Plus, we're starting an undergraduate debate association this year. ;)

I am currently attending a local community college, and plan to transfer to one of the following (for a PoliSci major and a Spanish minor):

Whitworth University (applied and accepted with scholarship)
Northwest Nazarene University (applied and accepted)
Hillsdale College (will apply)
Carroll College (will apply)
Gordon College (may apply)
Gonzaga University (may apply)

If anyone goes to any of these schools, it would be awesome if you could give me some thoughts on them/their debate program (or lack there of, as the case may be), or tips to help me choose (especially between Whitworth and NNU, since those are the main two at this point). :)

Clearly, NCFCA/STOA debaters are very frustrating. :P

UD is my top choice because it is amazingly good, I loved it when I visited, and it's in the best state ever.
One big bummer is they don't have debate (except Mock Trial). :(

I am going to Western Governors University for my BA in Social Science, with the teaching certification!

Online, cheap ($3000 per 6 month term), and can be completed in like two years (or less, I hope :D)

Only online college to recieve NCATE accreditation!

Well some crazy way, I got into the Naval Academy Prep school. I'll be headed there this fall and then to Annapolis next summer with the class of 2015. Does anyone know any former NCFCA-ers/Stoa-ers who attend the school or participate in debate there?

Thanks and good luck to the rest of you seniors.

I'm pretty positive Alexander VanWright (Region 4 for two and one half years) is going there. He used to be my next door neighbor, and, for a while, partner.

Guess you'll have to put those amazing social skills to work then, kat. ; )

Anyway, I'm headed to UNC Chapel Hill next fall. Hoping to major in Peace, War, and Defense (PWAD) and possibly graduate early. (A major part of going there was cost + scholarship + accepting all my CC credits)
