"Alternative" can be associated with the idea that something is "new" though for the most part its simple meaning is unconventional or abnormal. While it may be true that we are "unconventional" when compared with NCFCA, I'm with Joe that CCA isn't and doesn't need to be considered the inferior and thus abnormal league.
If ya'll want to stick a happy adjective in the subtitle, I'd suggest something more along the lines of progressive. Except then we sound like liberals...uh...nevermind.
Puting "Christian" in the subtitle is redundant and unnecessary verbiage. We're a Christian league for Christian homeschoolers that provides a Christian atmosphere for aiding Christian parents in the education of their children in a Christian fashion...yada yada, you get the point. The first C in CCA makes the whole Christian thing pretty clear. Leave it at that.

Sounds good to me. I suppose you could also include the website (as the old title had) for people trying to learn more about joining, but that's probably not the most crucial part. |

| I like Heidi's idea...but drop the "based in Ohio"...that is no longer the case; CCA is a national group; saying anything about it being base in Ohio is like saying that NCFCA is based in Washington State (because that is its legal address)...not germane |

Ahh but Mr S, it is still based in Ohio. Based being the starting line of future action, the founding, if you will. I know some Michigan people have a really hard time giving credit to Ohio, so why don't we change it to "founded in a state below Michigan with Michigan acting as a buttress of the cause."  Kidding...
(it really doesn't matter to me what the thing says, but I had to defend myself against such unrelenting criticism ) |

(Just to chime in: I think that the idea of "alternative" is not necessarily to suggest that CCA is weird, or subordinate to NCFCA, but rather to point out that while the bulk of this website is dedicated to NCFCA-based debate, and while the website originated as a meeting ground for NCFCA debaters, this specific forum is dedicated to CCA, which is alternative in the sense that it is not the norm for HSD as a whole.)

everyone keeps putting a bad spin on what alternative means, in my mind it just means its another option for people to debate in, not that its inferior, or that it's not good or that its weird or any of that.

All very true about "alternative," Cabius, but it still has negative connotations. I like Heidi's [Bambi's] idea, plus the website.

I think the website should stay in, and the "based in Ohio" should go. The whole point of changing the name was to make it a national group, right? Haha, and if it must stay, I like the "state under Michigan" better Just kdding...
Plus, come on! Ohio just beat us in the Conference Finals -- we can't go supporting that state |
